A beautiful old certified master violin - made by François Breton - ca 1800 

This is an authentic and early master violin made by François Breton. (with Rampal certiifcate).
On of the oldest François Breton violins we have seen so far, made circa 1800.

A very fine violin with a beautiful dark brown patina/varnish.
This violin is made of very nice wood - a very nice flamed one-piece back, made of, nicely maple, 
flamed ribs and a good carved scroll. 
During the last years his instruments have increased in value many times over and are now quite sought after.
This Breton violin produces a warm, powereful and rich tone, with plenty of personality and projection. 
The violin comes with a new set of strings and a new chinrest, tailpiece. 

The violin comes with a reliable certificate from Paris- included.

Biography of Francois Breton - John Dilworth 

BRETON, François Worked circa. 1778-1830 Mirecourt France.
Luthier to the Duchesse d’Angoulême. Very prolific and much-imitated maker.
His own style is quite refined, generally a little over-sized, with flat arch and clear yellow varnish,
although showing some lack of attention in the details, and materials very variable in quality.
Thousands of factory made instruments produced in his style after his death (see above).
Also made good cellos and bows.
Branded on back button, and occasionally inscribed within pegbox: F. BRETON. Printed labels:
