A beautiful old violin Chipot Vuillaume France - around 1934 - workshop.

Lovely French instrument in a good condition.

Original label reads : Lutherie Artistique, Paul J.B. Chipot, petit fils de J.B. Vuillaume, a Paris, Vendome année 1936.

The work is quite good, a beautiful original reddish/brown varnish.

The choice of woods is fine as you can see :

Two piece maple back with beautiful flames, similar ribs and stunning headstock and neck.

LOB: ca 357 mm (4/4).

In 1870 married Stella Vuillaume, daughter of a shoemaker and unconnected with the family of J. B. Vuillaume (although the Vuillaume name was subsequently exploited). Made instruments for Collin-Mezin before establishing his own shop employing several workmen to make instruments in the white and varnished in ‘antique’ style. His workshop continued under Charles Drouin. Chipot-Vuillaume / Gendre de J. B. Vuillaume / A Paris
