A superbe French silver mounted violin bow by Claude Thomassin ca. 1905,wearing his stamp : C.Thomassin a Paris.
Claude Thomassin was one of the finest French bow makers of his time,  and this is a superb example of his work in a good condition.
A professional violin bow with a perfect balance and good tonal qualities.
It is perfect for a violin with a clear but brilliant sound, and it creates a bright and voluminous sound with warmth and lots of personality.

The pernambuco stick is beautiful crafted,- strong but very elegant, with a fine curve,
and a good balance.
This Claude Thomassin violin bow plays easy - reacts fast - and drwas a full and detailled tone - a prefect violin bow for the solo player or the advanced student.
The length of the stick is around 73 cm and the weight of the bow is around 59,5 gr.
It comes with new hair and exclusive exotic leather grip. Ebony frog with pearl eyes and three part adjuster.

Claude Auguste Thomassin (1865–1942) was a French bow maker, or archetier.

Son of Louis Thomassin with whom he learned his craft in Mirecourt. In his early career, he worked for the shop of Gand & Bernadel. Many bows from this period are stamped "Gand & Bernadel". In 1901 the family firm of Gand & Bernadel was taken over by Caressa & Français. It was at this point that Claude Thomassin set up his own atelier at Rue de Paris in Paris. Although he continued to produce some bows for his former employers, much of his output from 1901 onwards was branded with his name "Claude Thomassin" or sometimes "C.Thomassin à Paris".

Thomassin has been called one of the best makers of his generation.
