Paolo Castello was one of the most important violin makers active in Genoa in the mid-18th century,
A beautiful certified 18th century Italian violin from the Paolo Castello family - made in Genova ca. 1775 - 1785.
This lovely 18th century Italian violin wears an Antonio Gagliano label.
This Italian instrument comes with a professional certificate of authenticity - (Amighetti - Cremona).
A very nice two-piece back; very fine purfling, anf elegant rouded corners.
Symmetrical top with interesting arch.
The violin has a beautiful later scroll.
The original varnish amber/brown coloured is attractively layered, and has some wear.
The sound is warm, mellow, mature and round.- suited for the professional violinist.
