A Very rare old Italian cello da spalla - contra violin - tenor viola.
A beautiful authentic old Italian cella da spalla, also called 'shoulder' cello or contra-violin,
shoulder viola, viola da spalla, made in Italy, end 18th century - to mid. 19th century - from the central part of Italy.
According the opinion of an Italian expert this also can be a De Zorzi contraviolino.
Famous music artists like Gregory Barnett, Sigiswald Kuijken and Dimitry Badiarov have
uncovered much information about “da Spalla." and are playing this beautiful instrument.
This is a very rare instrument - not many of these instruments survived !
This instrument can also be used and tuned as a contra-violin or large tenor viola, but it is currnetly setup as a cello.
The instrument is in a good condition for its age.
